Melodie Bolt is a Flint citizen and an imagist poet and writer of dark urban fantasy and horror. Her work has appeared in venues such as the Horror Writer Association’s Poetry Showcase, Horror Curated, and in the horror poetry anthologies by Black Spot Books Under Her Eye and Under Her Skin. Her poem “Eldritch Mother” was nominated for a Dwarf Star Award. Her writing also crosses into the literary realm where she has published with Paper Dragon, Qua Literary Magazine, and Prairie Schooner among others. In 2022, she published a non-fiction essay on her trip to Moscow about Lenin’s Mausoleum in the anthology Death’s Garden Revisited. Her dark fiction has been published in places such as Erie Tales XV and the magazine Witches and Pagans. Melodie is a graduate of the Master of English program at UM—Flint, and she earned an MFA from Pacific University in Portland, Oregon. She is a member of the Flint Area Writers, the Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers, and the Science Fiction Poetry Association. She lives with her fiancé, her youngest daughter, three dogs, and a kitty named Nyx. You can find her on Facebook or her website melodiebolt.com. Her books can be purchased through Amazon.

It may have started when Kimberly Matthon‘s kindergarten teacher found out she could read well past grade-school level and kept picking her to read books to the rest of the class. It may have been those essay contests in fifth grade, or even that barely comprehensible romance novella she typed out on the family computer when she was twelve. However it started, Kimberly has always been obsessed with telling stories. As the designated weird kid in high school, she filled her notebook margins with poetry and attended a few slams, winning one, and even managed to publish a
couple of pieces in a local journal. After graduation, Kimberly went on to Valparaiso University in Indiana to major in English, taking a stab at her first full-length novel after classes. (And she
does mean ‘stab’; that novel involved a lot of double-crossing assassins.) She’ll still read almost anything she can get her hands on, but as for the genres she writes in, she prefers roaming through the worlds of contemporary fantasy and sci-fi.

Roxanne Rhoads is an author, book publicist, mixed media crafter, and lover of all things spooky. Her books include Haunted Flint and Ghosts and Legends of Genesee & Lapeer Counties. She is the owner of Bewitching Book Tours, a virtual book tour and social media marketing company and she operates a Halloween blog — A Bewitching Guide to Halloween. She sells bewitching vintage treasures, handcrafted jewelry, art, and home decor through her Etsy store The Bewitching Cauldron. When not reading or writing, Roxanne loves to craft, plan Halloween adventures, and search for unique vintage finds.

The salon will be graciously hosted by Queens’ Provisions.

Queens’ Provisions is not just a place but also a deliberately joyful vibe that celebrates getting together to share good conversation, a quick (or not so quick) bite to eat, weekend brunch, and/or a glass of wine or beer. They want everyone to enjoy these moments – whether with us in Flint’s Historic Carriage Town Neighborhood, on a picnic, or at home! (Photo c/o Queens’ Provisions Instagram.)
